Friday, May 24th 6:00am… An east-west oriented trough of low pressure remains across the Gulf of St Lawrence this morning and is the focus of ongoing showers and thundershowers. These conditions of sun and cloud with showers and thundershowers will continue today and tonight. A cold front currently back through Quebec will move across PEI tomorrow morning. A wind shift to the NW will mark the frontal passage. The weekend is looking sunny but on the cool side as the northerly flow continues. Sunshine continues into Monday as high pressure exits the region to the east. Clouds will be on the increase Monday night ahead of a large area of low pressure in the Great Lakes with showers developing near noon Tuesday as the accompanying occluded front crosses the Maritimes. Skies should clear near dawn Wednesday morning leading to a sunny day. Another area of low pressure passing by to the south is hinting at clouds and showers redeveloping for later Thursday into Friday.
Precipitation… Isolated showers and possible thundershowers today, tonight into tomorrow ending with the frontal passage tomorrow morning. Showers begin again near noon Tuesday ending by dawn Wednesday. Chance of showers Thursday evening into Friday.
Temperatures… Another warm day today but cooler conditions expected for the weekend in the wake of the cold front. Back to normal beginning Monday.
Wind… Light-brisk SW winds today shifting to westerly tonight then NW tomorrow morning marking the frontal passage. Light east winds on Sunday and Monday. Brisk SE winds develop on Tuesday.
Hazards… Wet driving conditions in showers today and tonight. Possible lightning. Brisk SE winds for those on the water on Tuesday.
