Chance of showers again tonight across PEI..

Sunday, September 30th 9:25am.. A sunny start across PEI for the last day of September as a ridge of high pressure crests over the island. Clouds are moving in from the west in advance of another cold front approaching. This cold front will be accompanied by some showers as it crosses the island after midnight tonight. The front drops south of the region tomorrow allowing weak high pressure to nudge back in across the region for later tomorrow.  An area of low pressure will then move eastward out of the lower Great Lakes and should move across the Maritimes on Wednesday morning. Rain from this system will begin Tuesday night ending Wednesday noonish when this system pulls away. Cloud and chance of showers continues later Wednesday into Thursday morning as high pressure tries to build back in. Another strong cold front will be approaching from the west and will sweep across the island Thursday evening with more cloud and showers. This front also marks the leading edge of the coolest air of the season so far for Friday through Monday.

Precipitation.. Chance of a few showers between midnight and dawn tomorrow with the passage of a cold front. Rain begin near midnight Tuesday night tapering to showers by Noon Wednesday. This could be significant amounts here and should know more over the next day or 2. Possible showers later Wednesday through Thursday afternoon. More showers associated with the cold front Thursday night. Dry conditions move in Friday and Saturday but can’t rule out some afternoon showers with NE winds off the Gulf.

Temperatures.. Normal today, slightly below normal for tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. One day warm-up on Thursday then cool down for Friday through Monday.

Wind.. Very light NW winds this morning will shift to southerly this evening then back to northerly tomorrow evening and continue into Tuesday. Brisk easterlies on Wednesday, southerlies on Thursday then light NW on Friday.

Potato harvest.. Few showers tonight should not be of much concern. Dry for Monday and Tuesday. Work as late as possible as a potential significant rain event possible Tuesday night into Wednesday noonish. Not very good drying conditions for Thursday with a few more showers expected. Begins to dry out on Friday but temps staying a little cool but some sunshine expected. Long range is showing more showers on Saturday night into Sunday but that is fairly far into the long range.  So make the most of today and through Tuesday evening.

Hazards.. Frost potential tomorrow morning.

Watches/warnings. None for PEI at this time..
